Interesting that Bontempelli is not named. We might see him in the next game. A lot to look forward to with all the rookies and mid priced players.

Fair few Saints rookies will be watched in this one, especially Luke Dunstan I would have thought.
Also the Saints ruck setup will be something of note, will Longer play more forward and rotate throughout he ruck with Hickey doing majority of the tap work????

With the lack of defensive rookies, Fuller is a definite watch!

While thinking about who to look for in tonights game it occured to me that Eli Templeton, a rookie recruited in the most recent rookie draft having never been on an AFL list before is 130.4k.

Thats more than a number of players who were actually drafted in the national draft. There are other examples of incosistant base line players pricing as well.

I think his high price is because he was one of the higher picks in the rookie draft thing. Look at Thurlow from Essondon, he is priced at $118,400 - which is really strange. And look at Wood from Carlton - I think his price is around 140k-160k or something.

As mentioned I think there are a few rookies and mid pricers too watch out in this game. With both St Kilda and Western Bulldogs rebuilding here is plenty of opportunity. Off the top of my head Fuller, Darley, Wood and Honeychurch interest me from the dogs, while Longer, Hickey, Weller, Dunstan and Billings interest me from the Saints. However looking at that list there are a few others to watch out for too.

You are right, the other early rookies from the rookie draft also priced depending on draft number.

Doesn't make sense though since they were all overlooked in the national draft. Instead it should be 117.2 going down to 102.4. Anyway. ..

Would you say they've buggered up the rookie pricing this year? It seems like they've gone a bit to far to the extreme to me. It's understandable why they've made Hogan and Martin more expensive given that they are highly rated second year players that haven't played yet, but the top end prices and high rookie listed prices seem over the top. $200k should've been the top end IMO.

Yes I would say they have. As far as I am concerned the rookie picks are virtually just picks 60 to 90 of the national draft.

I don't mind the sliding scale for their prices but a player selected in the backend of the national draft in theory should be better (or more valued) than all of the rookie draft players and should be priced accordingly.

High rookie/preseason draft picks have been higher than ND picks the last two years (can't remember before that). Absolutely ridiculous.

Lol didn't notice it last year, well maybe I did notice but I didn't get annoyed as much last year. It looks like I am on my way to becoming a grumpy old man.

Would be a lot better, but nothing we can do about it now except try and find some cheaper nuggets and then weigh up the pay off for the higher priced rookies and see if they are worth what SC has decided to start them at.

Luckily tonight's game has a lot of potential to show us some of those nuggets!

I always thought it was interesting that Saints picked Acres ($127k SC) with National Draft pick 18 and Templeton ($130k SC) with Rookie Draft pk 3, but prices were 'reversed',
