Hey guys, just thought I touch base with where we are at and heading in the build up to actual footy season in context of our keeper league.

Had a look at a few things and rough time line looking like this

    1. After getting Prospectus, finalize updated position categories of AFL players for new season ahead and their prices to keep in our game under salary cap. Should be done around Australia Day time.
Aim to finish up no later than March 6th night and give access to on an updated spreadsheet for all coaches.

    2. Open up a Pre-Season Trading period before list lodgement deadline.
Coaches can trade players and/or draft picks in this period.
Proposing to run this transfer period for about six days.
Some proposed dates 7th March to 12th of March

    3. List lodgement deadline to submit list of players keeping under salary cap. If you acquire new players via trades they listed too. Proposed deadline date for keeper players is March 12th night.

    4. Keeper league Pre-Season Draft to start 13th of March
Draft style is same order each round but subject to changes where trades of draft picks were done in trading period from earlier in month. Reverse finishing order is general starting order of each round.
i.e. bottom team 1st pick each round and premiership team last each round.

    5. Lists finalized with on 1st April could drop it back a week if we want to start rd 2 of AFL)

    6. Keeper league round one games begins to submit teams.
Proposing to do this round one of AFL season, April 2nd, this year because it is not the awkward two week AFL start like last few seasons. If we want to start AFL round 2 that is no problem too. Depends what most want as the start. We only need 21 AFL rounds for keeper league season so we can always start round 2 on years there is a desire for that.

Open to be flexible on a few of these if there is any strong desire, especially trading period length but this is rough timeline I am presently aiming to work towards.

Same here Vin! I'm both nervous and excited. Will probably lose a few DPPs but hopefully I gain more than I lose!

Yep, also happy to start round 1! Gun players getting rested last round for finals in AFL when it's the grand final in our comp takes a bit of realism away.

Tricky part it is not always round 23. Some clubs rest players up at various points of last few rounds. Cannot recall what happened last round for keeper league Grand Final. Remember Erich won but cannot recall what players missing because of rested. I remember in FDL my grand final team missed Rockliff, Fyfe, Stevie J and Marc Murphy but I sense only one was from resting. How I won that is still something I have to look at score sheet to believe and pinch myself.

    Hi guys.

    Ok, big apologizes from me.
Simply been slack in last month and not got around to quite a few things.
Should have realized I was getting a bit behind but got distracted with other life stuff and cricket world cup...lol
However working to complete positions of players this evening and then prices too. Tomorrow if you want we can start trading period for maybe six days.
Going to be flexible on how we do draft.
Think we start it next Friday but might do it a different way and have a lot of it able to be done directly on spreadsheet I create or live sessions where 8 of us online get through a whole bunch of picks from time to time.

Batters is going on honeymoon in a few weeks so would love to work around that with some live sessions before he goes if possible.

Also season can start AFL round one or two. Last season we started round one. If we look like finishing draft in time we can still start round one of AFL. Not fussed myself on that one.

However sorry for being slack with this timeline. First post updated with current timeline dates I working too from today. I adjusted dates from previous times I was going to get it all done.

Anyway, keep a lookout in next 16 hours for spreadsheet for new season and probably get full on into trading discussions on long weekend.
Should be a lot of fun.
Sorry if I am making this a bit rushed before season but think we should be still ok with only 8 of us needed to trade and draft.
Batters has indicated Benno will assist his drafting if needed but hoping we can at very least get through bulk of draft picks before that.

    Speak more later.

All good for me mate, no need to apologise at all - I can make myself available for some draft sessions, but suspect with the 8 of us we can speed through it in plenty of time.

Whilst I have not added prices in yet you will find in the old ORFF 2014 spreadsheet a new sheet of pre-season 2015 has been copied over for those wanting to look at positional changes from 2014 for their own players. Not checked how many overall. The most significant to impact individual players are ones that either added as a specialist backman or forward or no longer such. Most obvious examples of that off top of my head is McGlynn in 2015 will not be classed a specialist forward but more of a FFL/MID. Young Jack Billings will be specialist forward categorized in 2015.
Then others like Luke McDonald gone from DEF/MID to SDE and same thing with Jack Grimes of more seasoned players.
Don't know whom has them off top of my head but will be interested to check my own ones out in full once I updated everything else in morning.

What spreadsheet is that in? Had a quick look in the ORFF Match Centre and couldn't find anything, interested to see what has happened position wise!

    Thanks mate.
Actually from memory both Higgins and McVeigh became outside midfielder category due to both having a CP% rate in Prospectus of 32% or lower.
So in reality it is more a gain and should have been under your happy category....lol..
Both can play back flanks, forward flanks and wings as OMF categorized.

Still got work to do on spreadsheet so back to it.
Did not realize McVeigh CP rate was so low until I seen it in his Prospectus profile yesterday when doing it.

    Quick recap...
    Positional Category Abbreviations and meanings
    KDE = Key Defender
SDE = Specialist Defender (back pockets and back flanks)
DEF = Midfielder additional ability to play back pocket and back flanks
BFL = Midfielders only able to play back flanks
MID = General Midfielder (wings, centre, rover and ruck rover spots)
OMF = Outside Midfielder (wings and all flanks if purely OMF only rating)
IMF = Inside Midfielder (only centre, ruck rover and rover spots)
RUC = Ruck (one field spot on ground)
FFL = Midfielders only able to play forward flanks
FWD = Midfielders additional ability to play forward pockets and forward flanks
SFW = Specialist Forward (forward pockets and forward flanks)
    KFW = Key Forward
*KFW/RUC or RUC/KFW dual rating allowed to have one play forward pocket for any single round as "third tall" up forward

If you see someone as DEF/OMF it means they considered outside mid that can play wings or all the back flanks and pocket positions but lose option to play forward flanks due to being allowed to play back pockets. Lumumba have a feeling was that type of positional ratings so means can play wings or any non-key position backline spots.

Similarly FWD/OMF would be other way around but not a lot of these types and cannot think of one off top of my head but bound to be a few exist.

Cool. I'll try to get these prices done as quick as possible.

BTW, keep your 16 close to your chest as we have the trade period open and some of your 16 you still may find you could trade if someone offers a good deal too good to refuse and similarly do not be too quick to let people know whom you thinking of de-listing at end of week because you may find one or two on fringes you could trade and get late draft pick for rather than de-list and get nothing. Someone should maybe open a trade discussion thread. I will openly say Dane Swan is on the trade table for Yarrawonga. I think he is FFL/MID this season. Cannot wait to finish these prices and start to look in depth at my own squad.

i remember reading something about discounts for some players who missed some games in 2014... that will be an interesting one too

eg: C Rioli (11 games), T Hickey (6 games) etc
