Haha I dare say there's one luckier girl in the world. A girl I know, friend of a friend, had $100 on the nose of the cup winner....

But that is insignificant compared to the 50% of the first 4 she got!!!! $150k later

To think I never really thought about putting a bet on this horse.
They always say back your local runner.
Never thought a horse that's based in warrnambool would win the cup.
Great to see such an outside chance win.

Was an artical describing the chances if horses running any good they described this horse,
Wouldn't stand a chance unless they strapped two rocket propelled things to its hooves.
Guess there is a little egg on the face now.
You can never script what will happen in these races.
Also on a side note glad to see big red is alive and well all be it with a broken leg.

One of the slowest ran MC meant that the back markers had no chance, also the interference caused at the start of the straight by the jockey of the second horse knocked about 9 horses off their run.

The only real winners today were the bookies who made an absolute fortune, over 40 millions waged on Win bets alone!

I had one of my worst MC from a betting perspective, but lots of food and beers and almost got back my punting money for the day with my wins on the poker table.

Almost snagged the F4...have a tradition of boxing up our birth dates...had all bar the number 19 (had 18 and 20 instead). If only one of us was born a day earlier or later...then IDIG and his fiance would've been in line for a nice belated engagement present!

Exciting forward Troy Menzel is the new owner of the No.32 at Adelaide.

Menzel, 21, joined the Crows in last month’s AFL Trade Period after three seasons at Carlton.

Originally recruited with pick No.11 in the 2012 National Draft, the skilful South Australian kicked 47 goals in 40 games for the Blues. At Carlton Menzel wore No.2, which is already owned at West Lakes by Brad Crouch, who is keen to forge his own career in the number.

Menzel said he was humbled to be offered the famous jumper by his new Club.

“The No.32 has obviously been worn by some champions of the Adelaide Football Club,” Menzel said.

“I’m very excited and honoured to receive the jumper, and I can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season training with the boys on Monday.”

Menzel is set to become only the fourth player to wear the No.32 in Adelaide’s history.

He replaces Patrick Dangerfield, who played 152 of his 154 games for the Club in the jumper after starting his career in No.19.

The No.32 was made famous by premiership player and Brownlow Medallist Mark Ricciuto. Adelaide’s longest-serving captain, Ricciuto played all of his 312 career games in the No.32.

The eight-time All Australian said he was looking forward to seeing Menzel in action.

“Troy is a great pick-up for our footy club. Put him alongside Tex, Eddie and all the guys up forward and it’s pretty bloody exciting,” Ricciuto said.

“I can’t wait to see Troy running around at Adelaide Oval in the Crows colours. It’ll be nice to see another young player start his journey at the Club and in the No.32.

“Hopefully, he can kick a few more goals in it!”

Ricciuto took over the jumper from inaugural owner, Bruce Lindsay who played six games in 1991. The No.32 has been worn in 472 of Adelaide’s 578 AFL games.

Recruits Dean Gore and Hugh Greenwood, and forward Riley Knight have also received new numbers for Season 2016. Gore will wear the No.36, while Greenwood takes over No.20. Knight has moved from the No.39 to No.3 following the retirement of Brent Reilly.

The remaining numbers will be revealed in the coming week.

^ Loved how the Irish commentators were talking **** about the Aussies and their use of the round ball. Our players over there are All Australian for AFL. I'd be very happy to **** all over the Irish if we played our football against them.

Just a bit of draft info before tonight...

AFL DRAFT- HOW WILL THE FIRST ROUND PLAY OUT?

Carlton will select key defender Jacob Weitering with pick No. 1 on Tuesday evening, while Brisbane appears certain to take Murray Bushrangers forward Josh Schache with the next selection.
From there, the AFL’s new bidding system is likely to kick in, with Melbourne a strong chance to make a submission for Sydney academy player Callum Mills. The Swans, presuming they elect to match the Demons bid, could be forced to use up to four picks for Mills, meaning they mightn’t have another selection until pick No. 60.
The entire format for father-son and academy bidding system has been restructured this year, with clubs looking to secure gun academy and father-son youngsters having to pay for them, often with multiple picks.
The clubs likely to have a big say in the early parts of the draft are Essendon (picks 4, 5, 24 and 25), Melbourne, picks (3 and 7) and Gold Coast (picks 6 and 16).
Up to six academy players from the Swans, GWS and Brisbane could be selected in the first round, meaning Carlton’s first round pick of No. 19 could be pushed back to as far as No. 24.
