Hi guys, I'm in the market for a new laptop. My last one went about a year ago and have survived on the iPad since ( great for what I needed but no excell). The time has come to purchase a new laptop as I will need to have excel to put in place a few things I'm working on as well as run the SCS tournaments. My basic requirements are Windows 10, 8 gb ram, 500 mb to 1 gb of hdd, 13 to 15 inch screen. As it won't be for gaming ( past all that about 20 years ago) I'm not to fussed about the graphics card. My budget is up to $800 including office. Jbhifi usually give me a pretty reasonable discount for bundled products. Does anyone have a recommendation based on actual first hand experience or knowledge which one I should get. From doing a bit of research all the major brands seem to have them made to their specifications in factories in China or Taiwan so it makes choices on reliability difficult as a lot of the internals are similar. All replys welcome.

Rowsus, I read recently that you purchased a new one a few weeks back, as the stats and tables guru, any thoughts?

Thanks for all the replies guy's thanks to my recent luck I upped my budget and picked up a Lenovo yoga 710 14 inch full hd touchscreen. Great so far, very quick thanks to an ssd rather than hdd. Unfortunately only 128gb ssd so will probably have to store in the cloud whatever that means.

A few weeks ago one of my sons put a dvd on and it loaded the menu. My son then proceeded to hit the TV and was getting frustrated that it didn't then load his selection!

Hey Doc, my last laptop was a Lenovo Yoga so well done except I still haven't trained myself to use the touch screen to it's best potential so that's a bit of a fizzer.

I like my rookies like I like my women. Cheap, skillful and on bubbles.

The Microsoft surface looks like a handy piece of equipment. Not sure what category it fits into but very versatile and intelligently put together.
