Hi Guys, you can count me in!

Just a word of warning re Pokerstars. Amendments to the Interactive Gambling Act are currently before Federal Parliament. If this were to pass, then Pokerstars has indicated that they would withdraw from the Australian market. I would also expect all other major operators to follow suit as the amendments take a far tougher stance on offshore wagering providers, and explicitly outlaws on-line poker (rather than being a "gray" area as currently is). Not sure on the time frames, but may be sooner rather than later if the amendments were to pass unchanged.

Hmm I don't know if we're gonna have a choice. If they pull out, it'll be the shortest run comp in history

I had a look at the facebook (zynga?) poker one to see if they gave the option to create your own tournaments but doesn't it look like they do. If anyone plays on or knows of a fun, non gambling site option maybe that'll be a better fit as there'll be far less risk of it getting taken down.

I'm flexible with buy-ins and prefer prizes for 3 players for both monthly and end of year prizes.

The deeper the better with regards to starting stacks! Either 5k or 10k sounds good to me.

Oh and in the private messages, i said you'd have to rebuy the free chips once every 4-5 days to ensure you have enough. It's actually 4 hours lol

    To add chips:

    Click on Cashier as below
    Name: lobby.png
Views: 91
Size: 146.7 KB

Then click Free Chips, and it will add free play money to your account, which you will then be able to use to buy in to the tournaments i create.

I would try and get in the habit of topping up whenever you log in, and that way you won't have to worry when there's an upcoming game.

Yeah i like deeper stacks but the deeper the stack, the longer the game and I don't know what time a game at night in Australia would be for Rowsus?? lol. It could be 4 in the morning for all we know

Starting stacks are really dependent on what the blind structure is. Using the standard stars blind structure, I'd expect a 5k stack to go at least 3-4 hrs.

Of course, throw in a few maniacs and it might be over in 30 mins..

    LaPorky...lol

Lobby looks good, though I've never been on an on-line poker site.

So if the tourney buy-in is say 10k for example, all I need to ensure is that I have at least that amount before the schedule tourney? What's the amount of 'free chips' every 4 hours? Assuming NO re-buys during tourney?

    Re Stakes...

I'm flexible and conscious that it has to be 'affordable' for everyone. Agree with Ben on prizes for top 3 for both monthly/yearly, and I like the look of a deep stack, if only for the fact that I'll only get to view it for a brief moment at the start!

Yeah I reckon the game will go for 2 - 3 hrs with a 5k start bank.

    The blind structure will most likely be as follows with 10 min blinds for each level;

    1 10/20
    2 15/30
    3 25/50
    4 50/100
    5 75/150
    6 100/200
    7 100/200 Ante: 25
    8 200/400 Ante: 25
    9 300/600 Ante: 50
    10 400/800 Ante: 50
    11 600/1,200 Ante: 75
    12 800/1,600 Ante: 75
    13 1,000/2,000 Ante: 100
    14 1,500/3,000 Ante: 150
    15 2,000/4,000 Ante: 200
    16 2,500/5,000 Ante: 250

So I can't see the game going any longer than 16 levels (160 mins) at which stage the big blind would be our starting stack.

Yeah my first thought was 5k chips with 9 players with 10 minute blinds would be around 3 hours. I think that's a good amount of time. Not too long, not too short.

As a rule of thumb they say, a game will generally end when the BB is 10% of total chips so with BB's example, just under 3 hours which sounds about right.

Buy in for tourney is 20k play chips. You can receive 12.5k every 4 hours so up to everyone how they manage their play chips as long as they've got 20k when it's time to play that's the main thing.

    PLEASE READ ME

Lastly, the boring stuff but stuff that needs to be addressed.

With all the comps/syndicates/clubs i have run over the years, the one hard and fast rule that has always stood true is that you get the cash upfront.

That means that if we do go the play money route and not pay from our Pokerstars account, the end of year fund money will need to be in my account before the first game AND the monthly funds need to be paid into my account each month before the actual day. If you're comfortable with paying the whole 12 months in advance, even better.

I know alot of you guys on a personal basis now so please do not take this personally. I make this same insistence with my best mates of 20 years! It's the only way to make admin not an absolute nightmare and to ensure this works and everyone gets paid.

If anyone wants to pull out for this reason, that is all good, i and i'm sure everyone else understands. You can PM me if you prefer not to discuss on the open forum.

Totally agree and endorsed IDIG's comments, only way to do it really.

Being admin is a task in itself so we thank you for organising and administering (hopefully you'll remember my bank account details off by heart by the end of next year!)
