Seeking volunteers to write captain/vice captain previews

Quick call out before we probably do the usual, ahem, boring captain vice captain threads.

If anyone wants to try their hand at writing some round previews, we would love to have you get involved! We'd ideally have a few involved to get a bit of a rotation going.

They don't need to be super analytical but a little bit of substance behind them would be great. Maybe if you were feeling adventurous a recommendation and maybe a left field option as Danger/Fyfe/Pendles will no doubt dominate alot of the recommendations.

There wouldn't be any set template so however you wanted to do them. Off the top of my head you could include one of the following as the crux of your piece.
    - statistical analysis
    - match ups/taggers
    - teams that give up the most 125+ as Pearcey has recorded over the years
    - form/historical
    - relevance/popularity
    - outlandish picks
    - loopholes

Anything you want and obviously as much time as you're willing to spend. Ideally we'd have these up on the Monday or Tuesday before each round to allow some time to digest etc.

If we don't get any volunteers (so far we have 1), we'll just run with the usual poll and leave it at that. Cheers!

Cool mate, the sooner you can get it up the better..which is the obvious advantage of it being the round 1 version

    SCS Medal System Has Evolved!

In the background we've been reviewing all aspects of what we do here at SCS and the medal system has come under heavy scrutiny (well, not really but that just sounds better don't you think? ).

    The general consensus was:
    - there were too many and too easy to get
    - they were too hard to distinguish 'values'

So, what we've done is pulled back the reins and will be only awarding them for a limited number of achievements and changed to a special medal/gold/silver/bronze system which will make identifying them much easier. This will mean, any medals previously awarded that do not meet these achievements will unfortunately be taken back (sorry!). I know this may be disappointing for some but for the greater good, it had to be done.

Medals will be awarded for the following only:

    Special Medal - Knights Cross
    SuperCoach Winner

    Special Medal - Iron Cross
    Any fantasy comp winner
    Honorary medal

    Gold medal
    Weekly prize winner
    Top 10 overall finish
    SCS Group winner
    Champions league winner

    Silver medal
    Top 100
    Premier league winner

    Bronze medal
    Top 1000
    Footy tips winner
Div 01 and 02 league winner
    SCS Grand Slam Champion* (TBC)

    No longer awarded and removed
    SCS League winner (div 3+)
    Any league runner up
    SCS group 2nd and 3rd
Predict the score comp winner and r/up
Any previous grand slam winner and r/up
    Multi/sport tipping comp

As you can see it will be alot harder to win medals. You will need to have a really good year to win any medal and only the creme de la creme will have a special or gold medal. The decision to only award medals to the Champions, premier and div 01-02 leagues was not one we made easily but the system we have and will continue to have in place rewards our members who have strong results but are also active on the website throughout the year (yes we look at that stuff ). Apologies if anyone feels hard done by here, this was necessary for our promotion/relegation system (think AFL, reserves, state level, reserves then local leagues).

All in all, just a bit of fun. You should start seeing these changes roll in at some stage. Cheers!

Great initiative there IDIG. Makes it extremely tough to get a medal but those who do receive them well and truely deserve them. Not liking the fact my super is turning bronze though. Oh well least I'll still have one

Although I'm not likely to win a medal under either system, I think the new ratings system you've outlined there IDIG, is exactly right.

FWIW, I've never liked that the medal icons look like war medals, after all, it's not like we're risking our lives!
