What are you hoping to gain out of the Lever trade? I'd be pushing for 2 first rounders as you blokes hold all the chips.
I don't reckon we're the sharpest negotiators! The Tippett fiasco still stings. We'll probably trade him for a bag of magic beans.

Two first rounders is the go. Suspect we'll have to send another pick else back in the other direction with Lever. Something in the 20's maybe?

    BREAKING - TRADE COMPLETE

Essendon have secured the services of Devon Smith, sending pick 11 GWS' way.
The deal involves the Bombers receiving GWS’ pick 24 and a future second round choice (2018) in return. It is expected the Bombers will also send their future third rounder to GWS.

DEVON Smith has gotten his wish to be a Bomber after the club traded its prized pick No.11 as part of a deal to land the Greater Western Sydney forward.

The trade is understood to have seen Essendon pass on its first pick at this year's NAB AFL Draft (No.11 overall) for the crafty forward, but the Giants have given back their second-round selection (No.24) and next year's future's second-round choice to Essendon.

As part of the deal Essendon is also set to give its third-round pick at next year's draft to the Giants.

It means the Bombers are one-third of the way to landing their trio of targets during this Trade Period, with the club also chasing Western Bulldog Jake Stringer and Gold Coast's Adam Saad.

But it is also a good deal for the Giants, who didn't have a first-round pick at this year's draft and looked set to enter proceedings in the second round.

Smith nominated the Bombers as his preferred destination after deciding to leave the Giants, where he played 109 games and kicked 100 goals. The 24-year-old will add extra firepower to the Essendon forward line and is also expected to run through the midfield.

Looking at his numbers, he generally goes 90+ when he has 20+ touches so could be a breakout candidate if he gets a run through the midfield like he probably will.

Should be around 430k i think which we all know is the magic M/F breakout price from previous years (just made that up actually ).

All the talk seems to be he'll be playing majority midfield at the dons. Could be the "Heeney" type pick of this season. Comes with a definitely injury risk though as he's never done a full season. Best was ~90 at 20 and 21 games in 2014 and 2015. If he can go 95+ at 20 games, that's closer to the mark we'd be after at 430k.

would have been a mid at the Giants but like Greene got pushed down the order and became a small forward.

just needs a full pre-season and to train the house down, been suffering from the knee for the last 2 years, and was not happy with the Giants medical staff.

will be on the watch list definitely.

Possibly. Melbourne aren't short of tall Defs, so my guess is TMac goes Forward and plays the Watts role, then it's Lever taking TMac's role, with Frost and OMac more lockdown type roles.
    Possibly.

What's your thoughts Rowan? As much as it sucks to lose a player like this after 3 years, im feeling like we got the better end of the deal!

    Hey Drew,
I think he has the potential to be an AA Def in two or three seasons, but having said that, he's not all that yet. Given what he has done, I think the price we paid Ade was a bit too high, and the contract we gave Lever was a bit too high. Time will tell, and getting a young player on the up is never cheap. I might be proven wrong, and he could turn out to be the smartest trade we've made, I just think we went a little too high on both.........at this stage.
We're goin' to need a bigger boat...

He's a great player and will continue to grow. I noticed he developed a habit of crashing packs and punching the ball over the boundary late in the year and being rewarded with pats on the back. How many super coach points for these actions?

Motlop chooses Port.... be interesting to see what happens with Charlie now, I suspect the Crows wanted Motlop to allow him to be released to Brissy. Apparently Brissy have offered pick 19 for Charlie though. I'm wondering whether we could do a deal to snag Brisbane's pick one somehow.
