Michael Hurley made his debut in Round 1, 2009 and has played 139 games since. With him missing this week, he has still yet to play Fremantle in Melbourne, and who know when he will. He is not alone though, the majority of the 44 players that will be selected tonight will be playing in their first Essendon v Fremantle game in Melbourne.

The last time Fremantle played Essendon in Melbourne was Round 2, the 4th of April in 2010. 7 years and 4 months ago! Nat Fyfe had not even made his debut then!!!

    Trivia

Nick Riewoldt of STK will most likely play his final game of his illustrious career this weekend against the Tigers. A career which has accumulated 330+ games, 700+ goals and the current #1 marking player in the AFL (total marks, contested marks & I50 marks). However, if results go his way for this final game, he could well add another #1 (equalling) stat to his impressive resume.

What is this elusive player stats?

I should have put a games rider in, but a handful of games isn't a career.
THCLT got this one right! But I expect Dusty to take over early next season.

    Unusual Fact

Gary Ablett has in recent years been accused of taking a selfish approach to his football career. I wonder if playing this week falls under that same banner? He apparently is very history minded, and this could very well be his last game. He currently sits on 3,516 Career Contested Possessions (from 302 games). He is only 7 CP's behind the All-Time leader, Simon Black, who has 3,523 (from 313 games). If he plays, he probably grabs the title. It's likely that JPK (3,005 from 201 games), or Dangerfield (2,656 from 198 games) will eventually overtake the mantle!

Read an interesting one in the paper today, assuming they make finals this year, which they look like doing, only one player currently playing for Melbourne has played finals for Melbourne before (they last played finals in 2006). Who is he?

Yep has to be Jones - only 4 players on Melbourne's current list debuted in 2006 or prior and 3 of those played for other clubs (Vince, Lewis, Lumumba).

good old Harry O, apparently his life story documentary coming out soon is very scathing on Collingwood and how he was treated there, did not stop him from playing 199 games.

I guess their is always 3 sides to a story, my side, their side and the correct side.

(PS These pics did the rounds of the internet a few years ago, I'm not the first to notice it).

Yep totally Jones, would have to feel pretty good for him pulling on the jumper again for that first week of finals, wouldn't be surprised to see them win it either.
