Man of the match: Charles Cameron a guy who has has a impressive bag full of tricks which he usually can never pull off. Tonight he did it.

I LOVE how emotional Eddie Betts was. Great team effort.

They touched on it a couple of times but how about the bunch of recycled fwds and how potent they are as a whole.

So many avenues to goal and with Cameron's breakout game, they're gonna be tough to beat next week.

Just saying but either team that goes through to the GF will still get beaten by Adelaide who look to be in a different league.
    Entertaining game at least.

Surely Cotchin misses the GF. They have been pretty clear through the year that if a player is concussed from an incident... you will cop a suspension.

Big finals tends to be a pretty large grey area.

Agree with both of you. During season this would be a ban, going into GF, we know players can get let off, particularly after teams challenge MRP and go to the tribunal.

I think he should get a week off or fine, same thing when on two strikes. Cotchin not going for ball, charged into contest with his shoulder and other player head of ball. Further, one of the top midfielders out for the game because of it.

Richmond will argue he is contesting the ball and incidental contact, very clear from boundary camera that he made zero attempt to reach for the ball, intention was to bump shiel of the ball.

If Dangerfield loses a Brownlow for a tackle... Then sorry Cotchin but you should miss the GF.

But they will probably find a way to get him off like they did Barry Hall in 2005 to allow him to play in the GF.

I haven't seen many angles of it but my first thought was he'd be ok (with the grand final in mind).

Happy for Richmond to get to the granny. Of the last 4 teams, this was the match I wanted to see the most.

Dermie made a really good point in the half-time analysis on Foxtel yesterday.
    He basically said:
"When your object is to bump, your fist is clenched, as you brace yourself for impact. When your object is the ball, your hand is open, as you are trying to get the ball. Look at Cotchin's hand at the point of impact".
    Cotchin's hand is open.
To me it was accidental, and incidental, and he should get off.
One of the things that really frustrate me about the MRP these days, is they rarely take the accidental/incidental into account, and jump straight to negligent. This was just a good hard contest, and unfortunately it ended Shiels' day. There was nothing malicious in it, and Cotchin's focus was getting the ball, and not the man.
For criminy's sake, let him off, it's football, not netball!
We're goin' to need a bigger boat...

I'm actually hoping if they let him off, that the MRP back themselves into a corner.
Players advocates can plead "Apart from there is no GF next week, tell me what is different to this incident, and the Cotchin/Shiels incident last season?".
The ability to fine players has been used too liberally by the MRP, and now they are stuck. They can't fine Cotchin on this one, as most of you know, a 3rd fine in the season means he misses a game anyway.
The MRP needs to toughen up, and stop using the soft "let's fine him" option so often. Suspend them or free them!
Hopefully commonsense prevails, and Cotchin is good to play!
We're goin' to need a bigger boat...
