    Nathan Freeman was excellent today. Suspect he's a decent chance to debut next Saturday night - ironically against his former side Collingwood.
    Also for the Saints I'm hearing that Bailey Rice will debut this weekend.

    Could be that DEF rookie we're all looking for.

    All we need now is Ahern to debut as well , Rd 11 was meant to be double upgrade week.

    Clarke , Freeman , Rice etc etc might have too many bubble boys.

    What are the chances that Keeffe plays again this weekend? I'd like to keep Naughton for a week so I can go Doedee and Murray to Simpson and Yeo but it just means playing Keeffe/Mirra this week.

    I just wish he didn't have the dreaded round 14 bye. With Laird, Lloyd and Savage in my DEF already, I don't think I have room for Rice.

    Hoping that Cumming keeps his spot instead.

    Yeah...I hear ya!

    You can add Phillips, Freeman and co. to that group.

    I've gone double up this week and I'm planning to to bring two Port players in round 11.

    With Cumming, Phillips, Clarke and Ridley all coming up, should I be bringing one in early this week?

    Looking good with so many injuries at GWS. I'm just wondering how long will he be playing in the AFL, hmmm.

    Matt de Boer picked up a hamstring injury during the match which will cost him Saturday's clash with North Melbourne, while co-captain Phil Davis was concussed and has also been ruled out of the Kangaroos game.
    They join a bulging casualty ward which includes Josh Kelly (groin), Toby Greene (foot), Tom Scully (ankle), Brett Deledio (hamstring), Zac Williams (Achilles) and Adam Kennedy (knee), among others.

    Round 11 could be interesting if we have a number of debutants in Rd 9 on the bubble.

    * bubble boys
    * Gawn to Ryder
    * Rockliff
    *Boak/Gray/Martin/Westhoff/Wingard
    * Jonas (?)

    too many options

    Maybe id give it more consideration if I hadn’t already traded out 6 of my starting ‘keepers’.

    Naughton to Olivier
    Henry to Yeo

    Sit on lycett longer to watch Ryder, Kreuzer and Grundy (going for league so need the best).

    is Gray forward going to see more up and down scores, was on a low score at HT. will wait longer I expect and maybe target Westoff in two rounds.

    Rockliff possibly on the radar, not sure vs GC whether he could overachieve a little, bit like Crouch did vs Carlton and now not handling the attention as well (although posting respectable scores).

    I think the Gawn to Ryder trade would be paired with another trade to enable you to bring in 2 affordable premiums.
    I have done this in the past because I can't afford the premiums I want to fill my team.

    Gawn to Ryder, hmmm, Gawn is proving to be a good Capt selection, it would be a shame to lose that option.

    Can I ask who the Port players you’re looking at Sam? I’m thinking of bringing in Robbie Gray and Westoff after their byes.

    With all due respect, I think you need to read the 'Gawn to Ryder' trade in its proper context and not in isolation, then maybe you may reconsider your statement on 'trying to be clever' to 'trying to be realistic'?

    The statement on its own is NOT encouraging or endorsing such a trade, rather it's ONE of the many options worthwhile exploring for those who're struggling to complete their team. If your team is coming along together as you had hope and you don't see any hurdles along the path which would prevent you from completing your team to your satisfaction, then it's most probably not for you. However, there are a number of coaches who for one reason or another are starting to hit the brick wall and are finding it difficult to generate sufficient funds from their current crop of Rookies to allow them to upgrade into their 'preferred' targets. This is probably more directed at those coaches who are finding themselves in this predicament.

    Essentially that trade gives you the ideal cash generation from the traditional Rookie downgrade, without having to either cash in a Rookie or needing a viable Rookie to downgrade to.

    The final washout potentially could be Ryder and Oliver versus Gawn and TKelly in your completed team, which in my honest opinion, is not the worst outcome.

    As mentioned, it's not for every team and definitely an element of risk involved as you're banking on Gawn to come back slightly to the field. However, the underlying trading principle of 'sell high, buy low' is there, especially for those who can already see themselves struggling to complete their team to their satisfaction.

    Hi Thanh, don't like the Gawn to Ryder trade myself he's too good at the moment as a VC/C option, but I’ve got NicNat, what's your thoughts on a NicNat to Ryder trade after Port's bye mate? No cash out but would it be considered a worthwhile upgrade with the bonus of an extra player locked in through the regular bye rounds?
