Presuming he is just a name they haven't announced yet, same with Tom McDonald who I presume will become a DEF/FWD. Desperately need him to for my SC Keeper League side lol.

I love watching Robbie Gray play, and a big fan of his for SC, but I can't help but feel cautious after his health scare and chemo. He could be a make or break SC selection this year.

“We see Brendon as an inside mid who can go forward and have some impact,’’ said West Coast list manager Brady Rawlings.

“With Mitchell and Priddis retiring, he probably sees an opportunity to fit into that sort of role for us.

“We could do with another experienced guy through there to complement some of the youth we will bring in through the draft.’’

BigRuss, do you have any observations of him while he was at Port? Right down the pecking order in your deep midfield it looks like but i do recall him being highly regarded (maybe by you?).

Completely forgot about that. Looks like he and Rock are on modified programs until after Xmas, then will join the main group. I think he'll have over 40% ownership so there's a bit of safety in numbers picking him although there's the obvious potential advantage of not picking him seeing he'll be so popular.

Gray back on track after cancer recovery

PORT Adelaide star Robbie Gray has returned to training with the Power after making a successful recovery from testicular cancer.

Gray was running laps of Alberton Oval with marquee recruit, former Brisbane Lions captain Tom Rockliff, as the Power's senior players started pre-season training on Monday.

Gray had surgery at the end of last season and underwent chemotherapy as a precaution.

The 29-year-old enjoyed an outstanding year for the Power playing predominately as a small forward, booting 47 goals and earning his third All Australian selection.

Rockliff, who is on a modified program after having a shoulder operation a couple of months ago, said it was great to train alongside Gray.

"No one could understand what he's gone through … but he's obviously going really well from that side of things," Rockliff said.

"He was covering the ground really well and he was a little bit the same as me; he'll be building up to Christmas and after Christmas he'll probably be back into full training.

    "He's in really good spirits."

"I've just had a newborn, Jack's 10 weeks old, and Robbie is three or four weeks away from having his first," Rockliff said.

"Spoke a little bit about that. Spoke a little bit about footy. Just general chit chat.

"It was good just to run around with him and pick his brain on the way Port play and the different game plan."

Rockliff expects to be back in full training early in the new year after nursing his shoulder through the second half of last season.

"I'm probably eight or nine weeks post-operation now, starting to pick up the workload and I'll pick that up towards Christmas, and after Christmas I should be full training and build from there," he said.

"The operation was more to go in and get it cleaned up and make sure we hit the ground running next year."

Rockliff joined the Power as a free agent at the end of last season after 154 games with the Lions.

The dual Lions club champion and 2014 All Australian admitted to having a few butterflies before training with his new club for the first time.

"It's a little bit like going to high school," he said.

"When you've been at a footy club for so long, I've been accustomed to the way the Brisbane Lions do it for nine years.

"It'll take a little bit of time to build that connection in all of us and work out our strengths and weaknesses."

Ex-Cat Steven Motlop took part in full training in his first session with the Power, while All Australian ruckman Paddy Ryder and midfielder Brad Ebert weren't on the track.

Power draftees – ruckman Sam Hayes, midfielders Kane Farrell, Jake Patmore and Joel Garner – were eased into their new surroundings, while mature-age recruit Dom Barry was more heavily involved.

Midfielder Karl Amon finished on top in the Power's 3x1km time trial, ahead of former Demons captain Jack Trengove, Tom Clurey, Jimmy Toumpas and Will Snelling.

    B. Ellis, Yeo, Rich decent cielings. All not really over priced.
The hodge influence will be great for alot of players there including the senior players like Rich.
Johannisen could be a bargain if he gets his head back in the game.
If dogs can turn it around he's a steal.
Heeney a lock, Boak and Gray not so much with there new look side.
Alot of points to be shared around.

Well he will certainly get the opportunity at West Coast, With the way we drafted (Allen & Brander) and missing out on a ready replacement in Tim Kelly (Thanks Geelong). Ah Chee a lock too play huge midfield minutes replacing Priddis & Mitchell. Then it's up too him to show us what he can do. Expecting massive spikes in Redden & Sheed as well as they will have to step up and be our primary inside ball winners now. Venables should slot into Redden's old role splitting time between HFF & the midfield.

Keep a lid on it mate. Ah Chee has been my boy ever since he first came to the club very sad to see him go. If we'd put the 75 games into him instead of golden ticket Impey there's no way we'd have let him go. Has the tools to be a very good inside mid. If the price is right (<250) and we see a clearly defined role in pre season I'll find it very hard to leave him out.

Barring injury, you'd think there is no way he doesn't play all 22 games for us in the guts next season. Will have the joy of Nic Nat slamming the pill down his throat every game as well.

I will say this about Robbie, he's very bloody skinny at the moment. While he's never looked the most athletic bloke it's plain to see that the chemo has knocked him around a bit.
Still 4 months til R1 so you'd think if he gets the all clear he'll be back up and running at close to 100% by then.

Yeah mate you got a steal on him in my eyes, payback for us bending you over on Ebert I suppose. Does all the right things on the track too just couldn't lock down a spot in our midfield. The problem with him early was his poor 2 way running but it improved massively in the last 2 years. He was the best player in the SANFL by a fair margin this season. I reckon in 5 years time letting him go will be one of our biggest regrets.

I'm certainly excited to see what he can do for us. He will certainly be motivated to show Port what they let go. And as another bonus, his arrival at West Coast gives us a great shot at nabbing his talented brother Callum from Gold Coast in the next few years as well.
