Menegola as M/F looks mighty interesting to me. 25 games at 99 average could well and truly have his best footy in front of him. Top of the watch list for me. Lock in Heeney Dahl and Gray too probably.

Where was this confirmed mate? Just wanting to find the source so I can keep on top of the drip feeding of positions.

    Dahlhaus has retained MID/FWD
This is my very long shortlist with the bolded ones as good as locked.

Boak and Mundy are interesting ones but think i'll steer clear of the older guys next year.

Not sure what to make of Dahlhaus anymore

Seemed to be carrying an injury but I haven't seen anything to confirm or deny. If so he would be on my shortlist.

Bevo left him in the forward 50 in the second half of the season in a team that couldnt score. If he plays more mid time like 2016 he's a soluId option.

As an often frustrated Higgins owner this year, I'm a bit surprised he didn't retain forward status. He seemed to just go totally missing a lot, and I had assumed it was largely because he was playing up forward.

I'm thankful he's not listed as a forward tbh lol

While he wasn't especially bad and probably met expectations, gee he was awfully frustrating to own. Missed countless shots at goal, which for a goal kicker was salt into the wounds after he would go missing for those long stints.

I'm not sure how I feel about Zac Jones and Nic Newman being deemed pure MID. I guess everyone can't be dual position, though that is how the game is played these days.

They both played on the wings. Lloyd and McVeigh behind them. Fair call

Blakely as a MID only is a bit rude.

So many forward line options - I think we have to nail 95-100+ picks now with that many options.

Heeney, Dahl, Gray most likely there.

    Then 3 of
Menegola, Barlow, Mundy, Boak, Parish, Mathieson, Devon Smith + the KPFs

Going to be difficult but going to make things super interesting. Lots of potential for variation at the start of the year, especially if forward rookies are thin.

Yep annoying that we won't have Blakely as a DEF next year, whilst I know heat maps don't determine position, here's a look at a couple.

    Connor Blakely

    Lachie Weller

From the look of Weller's I think we could possibly see him being DEF eligible in 2018, whether it be DPP or not. His heap map is pretty similar to that of Rich and Hanley who both have DEF for the coming year.

Barlow off a broken leg rules him out for me. Could throw a blanket over Mundy, Boak Menegola and Smith for the fourth spot.

I like the way Menegola goes about it but I'd like to see where he fits with Gaz in the side. Same as Parish with all the inclusions at Essendon. Spoiled for forwards either way this season.

Blakely hit 29% of games in DEF according to CD, falling short of the 35% required.

Side note, added a few more to the list.
