If I didn't l have one of Laird or Hibberd in my current team then I dare say that Yeo would be there. Just can't fit all three though.

I think he's a good pick but have been burnt in the past so prefer the other two.

In addition to the hip his scoring seems to be dependant on the role he plays and that can change on a weekly basis. He is the true utility and has been used as such.
There are no shortcuts to anywhere that is worth going to.

He is now over his hip niggle, Didn't require any surgery or anything, just had to ease off his training load.

He is back in full training and will play some JLT, But I would say having to back off his training might have a small effect.

As a few others have said, what role he plays is the key, And even I'm not sure what Simmo will do. He is definitely a beast in that HB role picking off forward entries, and personally I think this is his best role, but he is sure to see some of those extra midfield minutes that Priddis & Mitchell freed up. But sometimes when he does go into the midfield... It is to do a specific run with role on a player that he matches up well with physically like a Fyfe or a Bontempelli... This is where his scores suffer a bit.

Looks good corkah. Pretty balanced and i guess you can make a decision with NN at rd 1. No Danger is the obvious omission (not saying that's a bad thing) and if you get your basement priced rookies come round 1, you'll be good to go.

One player i'd be monitoring over the preseason is Lloyd, who's numbers suffered when McVeigh played. McVeigh by all reports has shown up in top nick (evident by his Bras n things ads ) so don't see him playing a lesser role this year. With the money itb you've got a few options though.

    Thanks for this

2nd best average last year out of the defenders we can pick from. Seems a good choice to me if funds allow. I reckon he has more upside scope than Laird if we think Laird’s role and scoring rate are now levelling off.

Hey bomber, I am running basically the same structure at the minute although I have O’Meara too. Side looks good right now, like the couple of POD picks with Withers, Zorko and McLean. Picking forwards this year to start with is going to be tough. Not that there is anything wrong with your forwards, but there are injury doubts over Heeney (recovering from a knee arthroscopy), Billing’s (hamstring) and Gray (cancer). Also, Heeney and Billings share the same bye in that awkward week which is a minor thing to consider. Otherwise, it’s a good effort for this stage of the season!

DEF: Hurley, Laird, L.McDonald, Sicily, O'Shea, Murray (Doedee, Morgan)
MID: Danger, Martin, Titch, Fyfe, Coniglio, LDU, Dow, Brodie (Kelly, Barry, Holman)
    RUC: Jacobs, Gawn (Olango)
FWD: Menegola, Heeney, D.Smith, Christensen, Ahern, Ryan (Garlett, Dawson)

    58k leftover.

I am just not confident on the cash generation for rookies in DEF or FWD.

I really like L.McDonald and Sicily as breakout contenders, particularly in DEF where premiums fluctuate so much and there are quite a few contenders for top 6 by year's end.

I know people aren't convinced about Menegola but with the talk of Ablett and Dangerfield playing a fair bit of time forward I expect Menegola to be be playing pure mid and scoring very well still. Geelong will be winning most games and he scored extremely well in their wins last year. Adding to that he's a bit of a POD and I'm just not sold on many premos at all in attack.

Thoughts on this side and the structure would be much appreciated.

My understanding is that Menegola didn't play full time mid even before Ablett arrived. See, for example:

    http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/R...9/Sam-MENEGOLA

He scored much better ex Selwood, if I recall correctly.

LDU also seems to have a back issue now, but otherwise this looks pretty good to me.

Gee it does make the forward and def lines look more solid doesn't it?

Without going cheap somewhere I'm having trouble getting 4 keeper type players I like on these lines and maybe Lycett is part of the answer. It's starting to become a choice between different mid-pricers which I never like though :/

Interesting that you've also gone Hurley. He's the least likely out of my defenders to end up in my side.

Me too, tbh. I just wanted to put in some super high priced options on the other lines. I think in the end, Laird will be my most expensive defender.

First crack at a team this year:

    D: Laird, Hibberd, Simpson,Birchall, O’Shea, Doedee

M: Danger, Titch, J Kelly, Zerrett, Viney, Barry, T Kelly, Ahern

    R: Gawn, Ceglar

F: Heeney, Billings, Mundy, Walters, Christensen, Higgins

Ceglars at 266k hoping to surprise a few people with this selection, allows for strength across all lines. $198,000 still in the bank.

Any call outs for structure would be appreciated.
