Led the league in contested intercept marks since moving to the backline this year according to freako. Him and Curnow really went from average players to both being one of the top 5 players in the last 10 games for their teams. I'm hoping they can carry it with them next season because both had something of a late season break out. Like you said if Sicily fails many people will cry together, and if he continually responds to tags in the same way he did against the blues then we might all end up with a Toby Greene situation, because he has a temper. But mostly my sense is that Sicily will be another top player to come out of the 2013 draft

Not deeply thought through, but as Muffin Head pointed out there seems to be value around. Whether they are value traps is to be seem.
Yeah, way too many 'traps' in one team I'd reckon. Plus, NO onfield FWD rookies seems like you'll be missing out on some good options (i.e.: Higgins, Ryan, etc.).

Love the MID line though, was thinking of a similar 6 premos myself.

I tend to put players in to my early sides just to remember to have a good look at them with the intention deciding to keep or discard. No way my forwards or defense look like that come round 1 lockout.

I'm not sold on Sicily personally, nothing to do with his ability as a player, but the fact that the absence of Birchall and Frawley among others in the back half of the year potentially inflated his scoring. I don't have him in the top 10 defenders for the year and at 400k it's unlikely he'll make any substantial cash. 8 scores under 65 for the year screams danger, granted most when playing as a forward but the reward is far outweighed by the risk imo.

Gunston was also playing down back nearly the entire time Sicily was down there and averaged 100 SuperCoach points and was intercepting the ball and gathering it like a man possessed so I don't think Birchall (who will be replacing Gunston down back and will very likely get less ball) will impede him, it'll probably help him. Frawley is a different type of player who in theory could free him up. He averaged 92 in defence and when you look at the difference when he moved down there it's massive, he seemed to have really found himself there, whether it continues is the real question. I don't think the forward scores can be viewed as relevant and the club has said he's a defender next year. Here's the contrast and bare in mind he was injured in the 3rd term vs Geelong and that game and the game he got tagged makes him even more underpriced. You don't usually see a player put together performances like that after a role change, it suggests that his upside versus his price is very attractive. He might not work out but I believe he will. The cogs, gridiron helmet, +1 and shields mean defence, the arrow means forwards.

Ok - Gone with obvious value and injury prone picks. Will see who gets injured/sacked/suspended/position changed between now and the beginning and then re-evaluate. Might leave it alone for a bit this year and not tinker.

Yep lock those 3 in and i've got Dusty pencilled in at this stage as i don't want to not own him with that early start to the year. Haven't hear about him going too off the rails over the break so that can't be a bad thing lol

haha just a bit of banter, the eagles do look very SuperCoach relevant next year and I'll be bathing in them. Still 8 players is a lot!

I hadn't seen this til now but Rockliff with Port colours on SuperCoach looks completely wrong, seriously weird and just not right, bad.

Playing around with structures and really like the mid priced forward line.

    Def: R Laird, M Hurley, K Simpson, G Birchall, C O'Shea, L O'Brien, (T Doedee, S Murray)
    Mid: P Dangerfield, T Mitchell, M Crouch, N Fyfe, S Pendlebury, P Cripps, L Davis-Uniacke, P Dow (W Brodie, H Wigg, P Ahern)
    Ruck: M Gawn, N Naitanui, (S Hayes)

Yeah 8 is a lot for sure...but then again, I’ll be running a whole bunch of Essendon players next year for the first time ever

    First crack:

DEF: Laird, Yeo, Simpson, Burton, Birchall, O'Shea (Doedee, Murray)
MID: Martin, Mitchell, Fyfe, Cripps, Coniglio, LDU, Wigg, Kelly (Worpel, Moore, Barry)
    RUC: Gawn, Naitanui (Hayes)
FWD: Heeney, Gray, Walters, Curnow, Higgins, Ahern (Venables, Garlett)

Pretty happy with the structure, but round 1 rookies will dictate that to a certain extent. Won't be starting with Danger. Coniglio and Gray are probably my least locked premos and I'm taking the punt on a Curnow and Burton breakout and won't be talked out of it!

The number of Hawks and Blues in my team is making me a bit crook in the guts though, not gonna lie.

There is a lot of potential value around this season - as always, the trick will be to sift through to find it.

How do people feel about these options? Any other returning mid-pricers that appeal?

    my god Darkie

I was just thinking the same thing :-)

    Add

Seedsman (D/M) $ 300,200.00 - does he prosper from Brodie Smith being out ?

Ah Chee (F/M) $ 255,100.00 - already seems the flavour of the pre-season

    Day $ 259,000.00

are they worthy of starting and being a steeping stone or even a keeper ?

I think there's better value in the discounted premiums category than this midpricer bracket.

Rocky, Hanners, Cripps, Coniglio, Gawn, Nic Nat. Treloar about 50k less than last season.
Docherty out for the year also saves you like 100k which you otherwise would've had to spend at some point.
