Possibly making a dumb luxury move but I'm going Fritsch to Macrae to bring in a 9th mid. Really burning a ton of cash, esp with a Jacobs tag next round too. But Macrae seems to be the best R12 mid for a on the run home average, so I'll overpay for that. In a reasonably good position cash gen wise too so I can afford overpaying. Would still be able to get Hurley next round to add a 6th defender.

It would leave Dahl at F6 and Rocky at M9.

1,841. Finally a good round. Haven't any of the dogs players under a cloud. Rank 1,326.

Doedee, Phillips to McDonald, Ahern. Still got Laird.

No bye planning in DT at all, worked better than SC.

18 I hope this week, will consider the 3rd trade if necessary.

Been a bad couple of bye weeks for me in this - didn't really plan for them at all, stupidly. Down to 31st, but now with a completed team. Have also chosen to dump Macrae, although I will try to get him back in a couple of weeks. Current team with 6 trades left:

Laird, Yeo, Lloyd, Simpson, Crisp, Brayshaw (Ridley, Brander)
Mitchell, J. Kelly, Coniglio, Treloar, Cripps, Crouch, Z Merrett, Rockliff (J. Smith, Spargo, Ahern)
    Gawn, S. Martin (Crossley)
Westhoff, McLean, D. Smith, Heeney, Sicily, Hogan (Dahlhaus, Fritsch)

Writing it out has made me realise how week my M4-8 is so maybe I will have a re-think about this week's trades, which at the moment are Macrae/Holman/Austin to Ahern/Crisp/J Kelly. Any thoughts very welcome.

Those trades look good for this week. Get's Austin off the field. I'd worry about your weaker mids going forward. Injuries are bound to occur.

Made the disaster trader last week of bringing in Macrae for Spargo for a cool cost of $508k.

    This week will go

    Austin - Tmac
    Macrae - J Kelly
    T Kelly - Ahern

    Leaves me with
Laird, Yeo, Tmac, Sicily, Simpson, Lloyd (Rice, JSmith)
Titchell, Treloar, JKelly, Coniglio, Gibbs, Danger, Neale, Zerret (Holman, Ahern, Guelfi)
    Gawn, Lycett (Olango)
Mclean, Heeney, Buddy, Westhoff, Smith, Billings (Fritsch, Tsmith)

Leaves me with 6 trades. $140k in bank, really good coverage on bench and good money in rookies to downgrade which will allow me to swap Lycett to Grundy and Billings to whatever forward looks like getting hot coming into finals.

I dont think there are any other players i will target as I'm happy with all lines.

Hoping for injuries and that i can cover them better than the top teams. Sitting 137th at the moment.

Great effort, mate! Strong on every line except F6. Interested to know who you have instead of Guelfi though on your bench, as he is only a FWD. Did you mean Mutch?

Cheers, good pickup. I actually have Guelfi in forwards and Hoff in the mids at the moment just for the byes. So next week I will look to swing Hoff back Fwd with a trade. It was just easier for me to type it out like that showing my strongest lines.

Nice side. I think your mids might be a bit better than you think (Treloar is 6th for average!), and M5-M8 are probably conceding a max of 10ppg each if you think they average 100 from here ... we don't have many >110 players in my view.

I actually quite like Rocky in this format, but not in SC - his SC: DT ratio seems to be down and he's only had one good SC score now. Cripps is okay but just a little off the top mids, but I'd say not worth trading given role certainty and that he's pretty consistent. Merrett struggles badly with the tag, it seems, and he'd be the one I'd consider trading first, especially if you don't think his improved recent scoring is because he has learnt to shake a tag (he was an absolute DT gun for a couple of years, I'm surprised he's fallen so far, and torn as to whether that's a really bad sign, or a sign he could rebound). Crouch seems solid ex two bad games ... maybe it depends on what happened in the second one and whether you think it will recur?

So basically I'd pick your one or two mids you're least happy with (unclear, but probably Zerrett then Crouch then maybe Rocky for me, or drop Rocky first if he goes back forward for long) and earmark one of them as your Macrae upgrade, and maybe try to upgrade the other when you can find someone you like with an easy draw coming up.

McDonald is someone I'm also trying to bring in, and probably the most notable omission from your forward or def lines, which are both very good.

Dahl as cover is nice, but looping isn't really a thing in this format, and it seems quite unlikely he goes big from here. His DPP is probably the only reason I'd consider keeping him, otherwise I'd move him on as a way to grab cash.

You could also consider a ruck switch if you have a strong view on a ruck draw, or want to bet on Grundy over Gawn, eg. I'd say it could be negative expected value in a points sense, but improve your chances of winning the whole thing. I suspect you are in a position to win without this type of move, but may need to roll the dice at some point.

I'd also make sure you do make full use of the loops that are available ... I think we have a couple of Thursday loops (VC and I think E) that could jag you a few extra points.

    Best of luck.

Outstanding side ... all top six defenders, and the top five fit forwards. Very well done.

I reckon target Grundy, maybe Menegola, maybe a Merrett upgrade, use your loops and hope you can create positive PODs through injuries or smart replacement PODs. A KPF for C options could be worth a thought too. Good luck, you have put together a very nice team.
