Thanks mate, great win by your boys, ended up being 8 points in the end.

I went Gawn to cover off some of my cash league opponents, Mitchell was great for you.

    Congrats...

Poor GG, even Carlton and Brisbane beat him to a win

Congrats BB too on the close win. Nearly pulled one out of the bag with NN and Yeo but fell short in the end.

    Round 9 Results

4 wins for the HOME and 5 wins for the AWAY teams.

Blaze of Glory inflicted the 1st defeat of the season for FLYING HORSES in a see-sawing match decided by 8 points, whilst Goodie's Guns run of bad luck continues as NWD recorded their 2nd highest score since league matches commenced to triumph by a narrow 22 points.

It was another titanic battle in our match of the round with Beasts FC's Lloyd and Holman helping his team to build a commanding 1st half lead. Jibrangers, the champion that he is, fought all the way to the end with his NN, Yeo and Rioli just falling short by 16 points in the end.

The remaining coaches had relatively comfortable wins, with either Macrae, Lloyd or Captain's choices having a pivotal say in the results.

Brownie's Bandits welcomed return to form broke their 3-game losing streak, Rowsus got the better of SuperCoach Scores and Muppets F.C rebounded from last week's disaster by registering their highest score in league matches.

Average score for the round was 2,195 with a great deal of variation, low of 1,900 and high of 2,335.

    League ranking unchanged at 71st.

As we're all busy shuffling our Rookie deckchairs in preparation for the upcoming MBRs, let's revisit how our teams are looking at the completion of Rd9.

    Name: Rd9 Teams.jpg
Views: 51
Size: 400.8 KB

The majority of us share the common backbone which holds our team in tact, however, some are holding onto PODs which may or may not be positive for their respective team:

    FLYING HORSES - B Grundy
    Caleb's Kings - B Deledio
The Darkness - M Hurley and J Selwood
    PC - C Curnow
    Brownie's Bandits - J Macrae
    NaughtonWittsDusty - J Howe
    Jaca's Attackers - D Zorko
    Muppets F.C - J Webster and B Acres
    Rowsus - P Seedsman and L Whitfield
    SuperCoach Scores - D Rich, J Kennedy, C Sinclair and S Menegola

    Other observations includes:
    1. Caleb's Kings and Philzsay have completed MID.
    2. The Darkness either has a completed DEF or FWD.
    3. Goodie's Guns and The Darkness still yet to finalise their R2.
    4. Brownie's Bandits still with only the 2 DEF Premiums.
    5. SuperCoach Scores only had 5 MID Premiums, but also has 5 in both DEF and FWD.

He's still miles better than Billings, even with the extra 2 more games, Billings has only scored 7 points more!

When you put it like that...Billings is baaaaaaad, very glad I no longer have him! Such a fall from grace considering his 2017 season.

    ROUND 10 (Rd8 of H2H league matches)

    Name: PL.jpg
Views: 26
Size: 48.4 KB

With FLYING HORSES tasting their first defeat of the year last round, the only thing left is for Goodie's Guns to have an opportunity to sing their team song before they forget the lyrics!

1st versus 16th looks to be a mismatch on paper, but don't be surprise if Brownie's Bandits mob hands out a second consecutive defeat to FLYING HORSES come Sunday night. Brownie's Bandits is the only team currently with Macrae so they could have a very decisive say in the outcome even before the weekend has started. Other than that, it looks to be a battle between FLYING HORSES defence versus Brownie's Bandits forward lines, with only a handful of PODs separating other lines. Both also don't have Gray so there should be no valid excuses for not fielding a full team. Oh what the heck, I've talked up this matchup now so why not put myself on SCSPL TV so this will be the match of the round for the week!

Goodie's Guns run doesn't get any easier as he meets Ricky Bobby on a 3-game winning streak (with an average margin of 113), Goodie's Guns have outscored Ricky Bobby's team by an average of 9 points over this same stretch. Another worthy contender for match of the round, if it wasn't for my selfishness.

Select highlights from the remaining matchups...

Will it be Caleb's Kings or GV Vikings to bounce back onto the winners' list?

After triumphing over ladder leader last round, Blaze of Glory will be gunning for their 4th win in a row against NWD who added another nail to our current cellar dweller.

Philzsay will be hoping for another 'out of the box' performance as he looks to quell the ever reliable and consistent Beasts FC.

SuperCoach Scores headquarter has been 'closed' from outsider as they look to address their recent form slump after consecutive 1,900s scores. Expects them to come out firing so Jibrangers needs to be on guard.

The 'Ups & Downs' perfectly encapsulate the match between Courtesans and Jaca's Attackers. Both their form lines are impossible to predict, so who will come out on the Up or Down side is anyone's guess.

The Darkness will look to resurrect their recent fortunes on the injury front, up against Rowsus who may still be celebrating after his win over his arch rival.

Both Muppets F.C and PC enjoyed being on the winners' list last round, something they haven't experienced together since Rd6. Unfortunately, this won't happen again, at least for the upcoming round anyways.

Sorry Mate, But bringing him in 2 weeks ago for the under performing Billings was the best thing I've done in a long time. Some bad luck coming up against me when he goes for 177.

Think you've still got me easily covered with you having 1 extra Premo than me. Would need some exceptional games from my POD's to get over the line.

My calculations has us even in the Premiums count...I may or may not have counted Macrae twice...which based on current form is probably being conservative especially after you include his score as captain!

Macrae has been so great for me these last 2 weeks with scores of 156 & 177 last week which as we know I also captained. I'm certainly hoping he continues at this rate, lol

I had been looking at Macrae for a little while now, Strongly considered him after Round 6 at $596,100 but decided to go with the proven history of Merrett at $506,100 who had avg'd 110 for the last 2 seasons and was also coming off 3 scores off 100 plus, That hasn't turned out the best so far.

Then I decided to go with Macrae the next round at $628,400 which I was a little hesitant to pay, but figured he would be my best way of clawing back some of those lost Billings points. Now he's at $727,100 and most have no way of getting him, So if he can keep it up, Hopefully I can make some good ground.

Well done on jumping on when you did, I too had a similar choice between Danger and Macrae in Rd7, went Danger similar to your reasoning for Zerrett. Key sliding door moment for me so far, but those are the choices we’ve to live with and make the most of the situation going forward.
