If he posts a merely mortal score he will have a huge BE and that will make the move pretty sensible in this format I think. I'm probably going to be pretty rich after this week as I will double downgrade, but it's a matter of finding suitable trade-out options that will be the problem. Makes the Macrae move appealing.
    Sorry Stephen, I was meaning to come back to you on this ... not much good when you're only looking for two for a quorum and one goes missing!

    How are you looking in SC? From what I've seen you're flying, hoping you can push right up there during the byes.

    T Kelly => Rocky
    Poholke => Smith

    Gawn into Danger.

    Still 3-4 upgrades to go but at least cash is starting to look okay on the bench. Hopefully I can be close to full premium by the end of the byes, although I suspect my rookie cover will be looking pretty green if I manage that.

    Thanks Darkie. I ended up deciding the Macrae>Rockliff was trade was actually a no-brainer in theory, but of course other things got in the way. Ellis-Yolmen's BE was even less gettable than Macrae's, so it wasn't really justifiable to do the fancy move, and I had to deal with the Sandilands problem as well. CEY/Sandilands to Rockliff/Witts for me.

    SC going great so far - am up to my best ever rank. Howe in last week has been a mini-disaster, and will have to double-downgrade this week (Murray/Barry to Rice/T Smith) just to cover the gaps, meaning I miss out on all the great value premos I was hoping to target. Just have to hope I can hold on tight this week and make my move going into the byes.

    That makes sense re Macrae. CEY has been a good servant, but his time seems to have come.

    It's always annoying when a new recruit gets injured, especially when you pick someone really durable. It looks like he hasn't missed >1 due to injury for years though, so hopefully it's a short stint. Double downgrade could be worse, I'm doing it by choice this week because I think the options are fairly appealing. Smith seems to be regarded as a given, and I'm weighing up Ridley and Rice, but erring on Ridley ... it seems you prefer Rice though?

    I have seen both of Rice's games and neither of Ridley's, so that's the only real thing driving it. Always risk with rookies but I trust the Saints to give Rice a fair crack at it and he plays a lucrative enough role for a rookie. And he seems to go okay. Don't know a heap about Essendon's set-up but there seems to be a bit of turnover and they're still competitive so he won't get the benefit of the doubt that Rice should. Only other factor is that Ridley has already been traded in by a heap of teams (including a few in the top 10) so if he does turn out to be a dud pick it might be a mini-win, and I don't think he's a bad one to have a bet against.

    Thanks for the colour, I ended up going Rice over Ridley (his bye actually works better for me as well, I thought it was the reverse), and Rice was comfortably the better scorer even with a fair bit of time off injured.

    Looks like you may have backed the right horse, hopefully it gives you a leg up on those ahead of you over the coming weeks.

    Think I missed posting last week, but only managed 1902 this round. Ranked in the 60,000s this round, out to 9,660 overall.

    I have "only" four upgrades to do, so I guess that means I have some underperforming premiums!

    Edit: to add insult to injury, I was docked a few points and fell below 1,900 to 1,898 ... out to 9,727

    Nice score with Howe on the bench and Murphy on field. Hopefully enough to hold your ground this week and move on from there.

    Thanks - nice to be reminded of what I thought at start of the round as by the end of it greed has always got the better of me and I'm cursing a poor 19-year-old who is just trying his best. Very glad to have moved up a bit in a tough week.

    Meanwhile in this game I have broken my golden rule and failed to read the instructions - I had no idea there were only two trades in bye weeks. Might be in a bit of trouble ...

    EDIT: scratch that you can do 3 trades, it just wasn't letting me do them all at the same time.

    1,971 for the Round has seen me slip to 24,108th

    time to put some work into my side

    Poholke - > Ahern
    Doedee - > Austin
    Thomas - > Witts via McKernan

    hopefully improves my team short term at least.
    only 4 Round 12 players so if I can avoid carnage Thursday night I maybe able to post something half decent (for once)

    looks like my byes are 2-4-11-13 so the following 2 rounds might be interesting

    There goes my overall, only playing 15 this week after trades. Laird, Coffield, Phillips, L Murphy all out this week have put a big hole in my team. Not a lot of points in that lot, but every bit helps.
