Who do you think is currently scoring better... Premium defenders or premium forwards? I have McDonald keefe and Sicily and can either split them or have them together in the same line and get another forward or defender?

I'm bringing in Simpson this week... With Hurley and hurn the option for defence. Or do I move McDonald back and go for a westhoff Franklin or anyone else (other than heeney McLean Smith Walters Gray)

traditionally forwards score better than defenders. i dont know how much you will use the dpp throughout the season. it may save you for one or two weeks if one of your players are injured. seen that you have three dpp i would spilt them. in terms of who to bring in out simo/hurn/hurley vs buddy/westoff i would go the latter. Sydney have a tough draw coming up but Port draw looks very good.

Currently sitting in 287th overall and have the following teams (BEFORE TRADES) which leaves me with 16 on field (including Murphy).

This is in the now likely event that Laird is still unable to play and Duman is likely playing for Peel Thunder:

What do you guys think of the following options:

    Option 1:
    Out: Mcinerney, Taranto, Guelfi
    In: 102k Donut, Wingard/JJK, R.Gray

    Leaves 18 playing this week.

    Option 2:
    Out: McInerney, Taranto, Guelfi
    In: 102k Donut, Wingard/JJK, Simpson

    Leaves 18 playing this week.

    Option 3:
    Out: T.Smith, Taranto, Guelfi
    In: Battle/Brandner, JJK, Wingard

    Leaves 19 playing this week.

If choosing an option, please advise as to which choice you out of the "/" guys you would choose and why.

    Thank you.

I feel like both Wingard and JJK are 50/50 to go above/below 85. Maybe a 30/70 to go above or below 90. I wouldn't want both in my team.

I prefer option 2 of the first two because I feel that Simpson is more likely to be a top tier defender than Gray is to be a top tier forward from here on. His role just worries me.

As for Wingard vs. JJK, I am torn. If Wingard keeps his midfield minutes from last week, him 100%. But will he? That's anyone's guess. I'm leaning towards Wingard only because it's the more exciting option and probably presents more upside. You would know more about this than me, being a Port supporter.

My trades this week are looking like:

    Guelfi > Rockliff
    Spargo > Brodie

If Jones is named again I might go English > Jones for a cash grab. Need to fund Ronke > Josh Kelly and Mirra/Austin > Hurley for next week.

What are your thoughts on actually going:

    Out: Mcinerney, Taranto, T.Smith
    In: Donut, K.Simpson, S.Giro

This gives me 18 playing still, but means Giro instead of Wingard/JJK, but allows me to keep Guelfi who has a 29 BE and also leaves me 200k in the bank for next week to likely go:

    Out: Duman/Murphy, Savage/Doedee, Holman
    In: J.Smith, Gray/Hurley, J.Kelly/Oliver

Going down this path would give me potentially a post bye rounds team of:

D: Laird, Sicily, Yeo, Lloyd, Simpson, Doedee/Savage (J.Smith, Duman)

M: Fyfe, Mitchell, Danger, J.Kelly, Treloar, Cripps, Merrett, Coniglio (Rockliff, Phillips, Giro)

R: Gawn, Nic Nat (Olango Donut)

F: Heeney, Mclean, R.Gray, Hogan, D.Smith, Fritsch (Guelfi, Ahern)

With not much cash but 6 trades.

    General observation...

I fail to see the logic behind teams with a Keeper M9 such as Rockliff, yet still carrying a less than desirable or Rookie at D6/F6.

I would've thought that prioritising getting your best possible 22 should take precedence over potential cover at F7/M9/F7, especially when currently you have no means of looping that player!

For me Fritsch, Doedee are scoring too well as D6 or F6/F7 to warrant upgrades before upgrading Rockliff/Holman.

It comes down to would i prefer Oliver/Rockliff as potential M8/M9 choices (with Oliver being more likely Merrett or Coniglio) down the track
    or
    Wingard/JJK choice with Fritsch

And option 1 i prefer especially when there aren't really many defenders scoring better than Doedee, I want to wait a couple of rounds to see if Hurley starts scoring better or who to choose in a few weeks post the byes, e.g. Webster/T.Mcdonald

Generally agree with this. However the exception I sometimes make is when the covering player is priced at a massive discount from an injury etc, and you can save a trade (ie extra downgrade not required) by picking up that player now and the D6/F6 next week.

Of those DEF players who have played more than 3 games since Rd9, Doedee is ranked 19th on average, so there are certainly plenty of options returning higher output.

How many times does a starting Rookie turns out to be a viable long term Keeper? Rookies exist to generate cash to bridge the gap to our target Premium when the opportunity presents, don't get caught by falling into the trap of being too attached to a 'performing' Rookie as you may miss the opportunity to make the jump.

Understand waiting for that 'perfect' trade, but sometimes we have to move when the situation presents otherwise one can get caught out...What if your targets don't show any signs over the next couple of weeks and Doedee shows sign of declining?

Well the trade could be Doedee to Gray anyway leaving me with Savage at D6 which would come into consideration next week.

I could potentially do the Giro trade this week and go Murphy, Doedee and Fritsch out for J.Smith, R.Gray and T.McDonald/any forward.

    Or

Holman to Kelly instead of the last trade.

So It would really come down to then having a completed defense (with potential to move savage on to a def or fwd (via T.Mcdonald), Rockliff/Holman at M8/M9, completed ruck line and completed forward line

    Or

A completed defense (with potential to move Savage on to a defender only), a complete midfield (with Rockliff M9 for injury cover and loophole opportunities with Merrett (Phillips or Giro likely to be dropped soon) and Fritsch/Guelfi/Ahern at F6/F7/F8

I think I prefer having every line completed bar Savage and Fritsch especiallywhen they are both over 400k and would be quite easy to upgrade if need be. Holman/Rockliff is more of an issue at M8 for me with the scores they can dish out and the fact they would need at minimum 200k to upgrade to a premium rather than Savage or Fritsch potentially would (maybe 100k max).

Conversely, THCLT you have me thinking...

    maybe this week:

    Out: Mcinerney, Taranto, Fritsch
    In: Donut, K.Simpson, R.Gray

This completes my forward line and ruck line.

    Next week:

    Out: Murphy, Doedee, J.Smith
    In: J.Smith, T.McDonald, Rookie

This would leave 6 trades and give me lines of:

D: T.McDonald, Laird, Yeo, Lloyd, Simpson, Savage (Smith, Duman)
M: Fyfe, Mitchell, Danger, Treloar, Cripps, Coniglio, Merrett, Rockliff (Holman, Phillips, Ahern)
    R: Gawn, Nic Nat (Donut)
F: Heeney, McLean, Sicily, R.Gray, D.Smith, Hogan (Guelfi, Rookie)

Leaving 6 trades and potential for a Holman/Rockliff downgrade/upgrade to a rookie and J.Kelly the following week pretty much completing the team and leaving 4 trades for injuries.

Thoughts on that rather than the other potential moves?

This year seems to be the defenders scoring better.......although if you can nab buddy in your team I would. Most backline will be cookie cutter..... you might get the chance to add the likes of Webster and Hurn to the mix if you haven’t got them already

    Out: Fritsch, Spargo, Higgins
    In: R Gray, Bont, JJK

Was initially going to trade out H Clark but with Phillips, Duman, D Fogarty and Laird all omitted/injured I had to get rid of someone else to avoid a donut. Spargo has the highest breakeven with iffy JS given his recent performances.

Leaves me with 237500 in the bank and 6 trades with 2 rookies left on field.

What do you guys think of the following options:

    Option 1:
    Out: Mcinerney, Taranto, Guelfi
    In: 102k Donut, Wingard/JJK, R.Gray

    Leaves 18 playing this week.

    Option 2:
    Out: McInerney, Taranto, Guelfi
    In: 102k Donut, Wingard/JJK, Simpson

    Leaves 18 playing this week.

    Option 3:
    Out: T.Smith, Taranto, Guelfi
    In: Battle/Brandner, JJK, Wingard

    Leaves 19 playing this week.

If choosing an option, please advise as to which choice you out of the "/" guys you would choose and why.

    Thank you.
With the teams in your 2 more short this week with Phillips and Murphy out.

Option 3 with battle, JJK and Wingard would be my tip. Think brander won’t score well against Sydney even though he gives you flexibility to move Sicily.
